Hi,

I was wondering if in the online armor firewall status (when you double click the green square on the taskbar) is fully functioning yet. When I highlight, then right click on a connected endpoint and choose to close the connection, it is ignored.

Thanks

Sometimes it can take a while for the connection to close. Another possible reason I can think of is that the connection may no longer actually be connected but the status window hasn't yet updated itself to reflect that.

Thanks Princess, I figured it might not have updated, so I closed the firewall and restarted it, they were still there.

Maybe someone can test this function.

Is it always for the same process and IP address?

It won't be able to close every connection, and those that it can may not be closed right away. If you have a specific example, however, we can take a closer look.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. It took the back burner for a bit. The answer is no, they're all different IP addresses/domains

I think they may have Firefox in common. I'm just having the expected teething pains familiarizing myself with the program, but its so much better than my other firewall and happy i found it.

I have come across some connections that are particularly stubborn and refuse to close. Sometimes trying more than once made them close, but it may just be like ABx explained; that OA isn't able to close those particular connections.

Indeed, some can sit in "CLOSE_WAIT" seemingly forever. There isn't always anything that OA can do about it, unfortunately. The best way to close unwanted connections is really to close the program making those connections, or prevent it from connecting to those places to begin with.

Trying to control where Firefox connects with this feature is really a losing battle, though. Your best bet would really just be to try to find out why Firefox is connecting to potentially unwanted sites in the first place, and disable those features. Pre-fetching would be my first guess, depending on the connections and the context (if you intentionally went to those sites then the context and solution would be obvious).
