In Vista, the Windows Security Centre keeps notifying me that I may have no antimalware installed and says Windows Defender is turned off. Well I know it's turned off as I don't use it, but shouldn't OA take care of that?

Are you running the latest version of OA ++, which is 3.5.0.50? OA should register itself with the Security Center as Antispyware/Antimalware (sorry I don't have Vista to know the exact wording used) if you have this version.

Yes running the latest version.

The only way I can make the warning go, is to say I'll monitor the programs myself.

Please help!

What you are seeing is symptomatic of a problem with the WMI repository. There is some useful information here http://windowsxp.mvps.org/repairwmi.htm. If you decide to follow it, please be careful to use the procedure applicable to Vista. Don't bother with the WMI diagnosis utility - just the 'Rebuilding the WMI Repository' section.
