Tramadol, Letters on Chest and Harley Girl? All first time posters and posting pointless nonsense. We may need that Online Armor spam filter in here yet...

Cleaned.
Sorry, everyone, I had the weekend off - the spammers, and their accounts are gone.
As more spam comes in here, I'll be adding it into a new part of OA that will be released soon :)

You have to wonder what satisfaction they get out of this. They have to register just so they can post this stuff. These folks really need a constructive hobby... :? 8)

Another one snuck through from Cyberpunk. Do these goofs really think they will sell this stuff via a security forum :?: :!: ... :?

how about when someone signs up they have to first tell you why they are here, what their interest is in OA or something to make them rather go elsewhere if they are spammers but seems legit for those who are here for legit reasons.

And of course the spammers will answer honestly. Honestly

Maybe have a registered users General Help Site with licensed users required to save their reg key as proof. Then have a Demo Users Site with a demo key as proof to post in here. Just my 3 cents, sad to have to go through all this to keep the goofs out eh?
I'm sure Mike has some ideas how to keep them out...like he hasn't got enough to do already... 8)

Mike, there seems to be a fair amount of conversation going on about spammers hitting the Forums lately and what should be done about them (my vote is for public executions).
I don't know how phpBB is structured, but I am familiar with Invision Power Board, since I'm the Admin of our corporate forum. One of the featues that IPB has is a little button on all posts labeled Report, which lets you flag an offensive post and automatically report it back to the forum admins. Is that a feature of phpBB that you just don't have enabled right now, or is that something that they just don't offer? Just a thought. Thanks.

Basically I'm doing it by username at the moment - there's no report function in phpBB - we may upgrade the forums at a later time.
I also agree with executions. One nice thing: the next release of Online Armor has the ability to blacklist sites completely. Guess where the spamsites will be going, once I get organised :)

Short of deleting spam here at home I know where I'd like to put them. The description would go into too much detail for folks here in the forum... :D

Hi Guys,
As a result of the spammers hawking their wares, I have reluctantly activated account confirmation and also retained the "Visual Confirmation" boxes.
You will need to respond to an email in order to have your forum account activated.
If anyone is having a problem signing up, please use the "Contact Us" link on the website.
Cheers
Mike
