View Full Version : Possible reasons for problems

Being a long time user of OLA without any real problems I had to give it away when I migrated to Vista.
Having had a fatal crash with a Vista update I had to drag out an old HP with XP. Having now installed a full trial version of OLA AV+ I have not had a single glitch. I think this is possibly because I have no other security garbage in the system creating problems.
A suggestion to new users would be to give it a try without any other active running security, from what I have seen in different threads this seems to be a common problem.
Install Firefox with Noscript, AD Block+ and OLA and surf the web's most notorious sites with impunity.
Just a suggestion
Roll on OLA for Vista.

Mr T.,
The good news is that OA support for vista is just around the corner.
The better news is that you could use your OA license on another computer. :)
The best news is when you said "Having now installed a full trial version of OLA AV+ I have not had a single glitch" (on the XP I presume). But, if your like me, I think if you need to tweak your system a whole lot more so you can experience a few glitches. But not OA related of course.
Kidding aside, how is Vista working out for you? I ask because my computer is a couple of years old and the only thing that is holding me back from Vista is ram. I figure any driver issues; I can handle that. No big deal and the kids want Vista so I'm in-be-tween.
I guess I'll have to try Vista secretly so the kids won't find out. I believe you can try it before registering, for a brief period, right? Obviously taking an image of the XP set-up first.
thanks

Sorry, have to repeat my favourite vista joke...
To simulate Vista on your XP box, just remove half of your computer's RAM, then break the audio - then you can see how Vista would perform on your hardware ;)

Well where do I start, Vista (have my machine back now after a replacement hard disc due to this months MS patches) Have only had this machine about four months and have done 4 reformats not including the last disaster. luckily this time I had an Acronis rescue/image only a week or so old so when I got the machine back I just reinstalled the entire C drive as was.
Being a sucker for punishment I allowed only the MS urgent patches in again, guess what? Explorer has ground down to a crawl again, a look around the net finds many such problems with the last two months MS patches.
The week I was using the old XP was a revelation, I had forgotten how fast it was with half the ram I have in this machine.
Vista, give it a big miss unless you have a separate machine to play with it on and a good backup elsewhere on disc, you'll need it.
In answer to the licence question I could not activate it or get into the user section as I no longer have the same email and as it was only for a week it did not matter.
To further add to my original post OLA AV+ worked flawlessly in the XP without any other security (apart from Firefox) for a week and I visit some very nefarious sites with impunity.
As an aside a big congratulations to Mike and his team, OLA appears to be the only uncrackable security program on the market. One site reputed to be the best at cracking had someone begging for a crack for OLA, they had no answers, yet every other security system on the market can be cracked.

You also have to replace the hard disk with a much smaller one. :D

i never heard about something uncrackable.
i think crackers dont propose crack for OA FW cause not a lot of people use it or know it, strange for maybe the best FW on the market. i think there's a possibility to reset trial or patch the app to make the prog full version. crackers always find a way to break into the protection.
the only thing that i never saw is a real keygen for winrar.
what they call the keygen is a patch that allow you to enter the name u want in winrar but it's not a keygen.
on each new release old keys released stop working.
the winrar protection seems good too, i thought they would release a real keygen one day but it seems it's just impossible.
vista protection is not easy too, but it seems the loader bypass the sp1 that desactivate the paradox driver and the timerstop.
it's strange the loader still works cause vista can verify if the infos are coming from the bios or not. the loader emulate oems bios but why vista doesnt verify if the bios got the slic tables even if the loader emulate slic tables before the OS start. so as infos are emulate before vista starts, there's no recheck to read the bios, if they recheck the bios they see there's no slic tables in the chip so it's easy to desactivate the OS. or the loader prevent vista to see bios infos and send right infos instead of the bios and vista believe data comes from the bios...
