Windows Vista, Patchguard, and OA Kernel Mode

Mike, maybe it's way too early for this discussion, but I've noted with interest some of the complaints of other security companies (namely Symantec, and now McAfee) regarding Microsoft's attempt to lock them out of the Vista kernel via a system called Patchguard. For example, here's an interesting article:
