Default How to Uninstall Online Armor

The recommended way to uninstall Online Armor is to run it's inbuilt uninstaller which can be accessed by using start - all programs -online armor -uninstall.

If for some reason this fails, then one should boot to Safe Mode and run the uninstaller from Safe Mode.

The user of third-party uninstallers is not recommended as it can, and does lead to unpredictable results, including system errors.

On XP SP3 it's been my experience that OA does a good job of cleaning itself up when you uninstall it. Let me list some things you can check. This assumes you install in the default location.

Folders:
C:\Program Files\Tall Emu
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OnlineArmor
C:\Documents and Settings\Userid\Application Data\OnlineArmor - where Userid is the login name of the User.

Registry Entries:
Do you feel comfortable editing the Windows Registry? If so you can do the following:
Use Regedit and search for Armor. Delete anything related to Online Armor. Also search for:
OAcat
OAmon
OAnet
OADevice

You probably have to give yourself full permission in Regedit for each of these four keys before you can delete them. This also applies to "SvcOnline Armor". They appear more then once so don't stop searching after finding the first occurence. Fortunately the are all located close together so if you search for "OAcat" you can find the other three by just scrolling down.

If you are not comfortable editing the Windows registry then there are two alternatives.
1. Open Windows Device Manager, choose View and then check "Show hidden devices". Then click on the "+" mark next to "Non-plug and Play Drivers". If you see "OADriver", OAMon, or "OANet" you can right click on each and choose "Uninstall".

2. Get the program "Autoruns" from Sysinternals here. Run it and look for any remnants of Online Armor. If you find anthing simply right click on the entry and choose "Delete" or simply remove then check mark on the left side of the entry.

I cannot stress enough the importance of making a backup before doing anything in the Windows Registry!!!

Hope this helps.
